Klaas Gubbels (1934) - Oranje Kan

Klaas Gubbels Oranje Kan 2004 Wood sculpture 35 x 25 x 6 cm The sculpture is in a restored state. The spout has in the past been broken, but professionally and expertly restored, including the tip of the spout. The restoration is neatly executed and does not detract from the appearance of the object. Please refer to the photos for a detailed impression of the condition. Gubbels is known for his fascination with recognizable objects such as coffee pots, jugs, tables, and chairs. In his work it is not so much about the function of these objects, but about their form, rhythm and presence. By continually simplifying the shapes, a tension between figurativeness and abstraction emerges: the jug remains recognizable, but at the same time becomes an independent graphic image. #ClassicalToContemporaryExclusive
