Kirsty Wain (XX) - Composition with Skull and Vessel - No Reserve

In this striking expressionist composition, Kirsty Wain offers a bold, colour-rich reimagining of the classic vanitas genre. Moving away from traditional muted chiaroscuro, Wain channels a modern Fauvist intensity, pairing a ram skull, complete with dramatically curled, green-ridged horns, alongside a vibrant cobalt blue ceramic urn, a textured shell, and the stylized form of a yellow candlestick. Set against an electric backdrop of magenta, violet, and turquoise, the painting features energetic, graphic line work and dynamic impasto brushstrokes. Wain plays masterfully with high-contrast hues and tactile surface rhythms, transforming symbolic remnants of nature and craft into a vivid, modern visual feast. Presented in pristine contemporary condition directly from the studio. Mounted on a wooden frame and ready for immediate exhibition. About the Artist Kirsty Wain is a British painter currently living and working in Spain. Deeply connected to the Mediterranean landscape, her work offers an expressive, emotive interpretation of the surrounding environment. Drawing strong inspiration from Post-Impressionism and the bold colour theory of Fauvism, Wain uses vibrant hues, textured application, and fluid line work to capture the intrinsic energy, spirit, and light of a location. Her paintings, frequently focused on ancient olive groves, hillside pines, and sweeping terrains—seek to translate fleeting personal moments and deep emotional ties to place directly onto the canvas. Wain’s distinct visual language continues to gain international visibility, and her paintings are held in private collections around the world. ´ I love colour. I love nature. I love art. Together, they are my language. ´ K Wain 2025 Artist Profile & Education Background: British contemporary landscape painter based in Spain, combining her artistic practice with a long-standing career in art education.
