Kiri Aguilera (1982) - XL - Jesús de Getsemaní

Kiri Aguilera (1982) is a Cuban-born artist, currently based in Spain, whose work is distinguished by a sophisticated visual language where contemporary abstraction, poetic figuration, and gestural expressiveness converge. Trained in professional art schools, her trajectory reveals a solid academic foundation manifested in mastery of drawing, composition, and the spatial construction of the canvas. On this technical structure, the artist has developed a distinctive, deeply recognizable style in which the line plays a leading role as a element of rhythm, tension, and visual narrative. Her acrylic-on-canvas production, entirely handmade, stands out for its vibrant chromatic richness and the presence of carefully balanced painterly layers. Color, far from being merely ornamental, acts as an emotional vehicle that transforms each work into a sensory, high-impact experience. Within her thematic universe stand out female figures, floral compositions, and the stylized representation of animals—elements that the artist reinterprets through a language that oscillates between abstract synthesis and suggested figuration. Her large-format works—typically over 100 cm—are conceived for spaces with strong aesthetic presence, generating a direct relationship with interior architecture and becoming authentic focal points within the environment. The delicacy of the brushstroke, the elegance of the lines, and the intensity of color contribute to each piece a contemporary, highly decorative visual identity, without losing conceptual depth or artistic value. Kiri Aguilera’s work is especially appealing to collectors and lovers of contemporary art who seek original pieces with strong visual presence, impeccable technique, and a distinctive aesthetic. Each canvas conveys a refined sensibility, where gestural energy coexists with compositional harmony, yielding pieces of great sophistication, ideal for private collections as well as curator-led spaces and high-end interior design projects. This moving contemporary sacred artwork rendered in acrylic on canvas depicts Jesus Christ in profile with hands joined in a gesture of devout prayer, imbued with deep spiritual introspection. The composition stands out for its marked stained-glass and geometric Cubist aesthetics, where the face, hair, and hands are articulated through fine angular planes that suggest volume and serenity. A radiant circular halo in warm gold, orange, and ocher tones frames the head, casting a vivid contrast on the bright red mantle and the mosaic-like cool tiles, greens, and violets of the background. The harmonious interaction between geometric language and color vibrancy endows the piece with a solemn, contemporary character full of celestial dynamism, ideal for spaces of contemplation and elegance.”
