Juno, Circle of Alonso Cano, 17th Century

Descriptio Oil on panel. Dimensions: 42 × 25 cm. Depiction of the goddess Juno standing, enveloped in a purple mantle against a landscape background with a cloudy sky. The figure, with its elongated proportions and serene expression, reflects the idealization characteristic of the Granadan Baroque style associated with Alonso Cano, with a soft treatment of light and color. The composition denotes a classical balance and a restrained spirituality, typical of 17th-century Spanish devotional art. The carved and gilded frame presents the work with museum-like solemnity. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
