Jugendstil Tile - Manufactures Céramiques d'Hemixem...

This is an original antique Art Nouveau tile made by: Manufactures Céramiques d'Hemixem Gilliot & Cie, Hemiksem, Belgium. The decoration of stylized floral motifs is applied in relief using a dust-pressed technique in which clay powder is pressed under high pressure into a mold. The tile is in good condition with only light signs of wear, such as a few glaze blemishes on the edges. The back is marked with an H, which is common for this factory and refers to the location: Hemiksem.
