Juan Chamizo - El Visitante conocido, (XXL)

Original, unique work, with certificate of authenticity. Start of a series: "The Visitors." They are representations of people or entities, whom I have tried to strip of their physical immediacy by erasing their features, a bit within the personal issue of my painting, which reflects an introspection and a search, inviting reflection on the loss of identity and the sense of belonging to a place and its culture. Juan Chamizo, born in 1948 in Madrigalejo, Cáceres, Spain, is an artist whose work focuses on exploring the human being through iconic portrait and personal and cultural relationships. After emigrating to Venezuela in 1978, where he resided for more than 40 years, his work enriched itself with influences from the Caribbean and Europe, reflecting his experience as a returning émigré and the complexity of cultural mestizaje. His work has been exhibited in various galleries and museums, mainly in Venezuela and Latin America, but also in Europe, and is part of private and public collections in several countries. His artistic practice is characterized by a particular use of texture and color, which approaches figurative expressionism. To achieve his textures, he uses a special spatula that he designed himself, inspired by the expressiveness, of the scarifications of faces and bodies of some African peoples. This technique personalizes and unifies his works, in which he often combines figurative and abstract elements. Since his return to Spain in 2018, Juan Chamizo has continued to participate in collective exhibitions in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Melilla, consolidating his career and presence in the contemporary art scene. Note: Due to its size, (XXL format) and for its protection, the work is shipped unframed, rolled inside a tube.
