John Mayall With Eric Clapton - Blues Breakers (UK) –...

A superb example of the first UK stereo pressing of one of the most important British blues albums ever recorded. Although Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton was originally released in the UK in 1966, the stereo edition did not appear until several years later. This 1969 first stereo pressing is identifiable by the classic blue unboxed Decca labels and the earliest -1W / -1W stereo matrices found on this copy, making it a genuinely scarce variant that many collectors actively seek. Often nicknamed the "Beano Album" after the comic Eric Clapton is reading on the famous cover photograph, this record became a landmark of the British blues boom. Clapton's heavily amplified Gibson Les Paul sound on the album helped establish the guitar tone that would become hugely influential in British blues and rock. ⸻ Sleeve (EX): A fantastic example that presents exceptionally well. The front cover shows only very minor signs of handling, while the reverse displays some light ringwear and slight corner wear. Overall the sleeve remains exceptionally clean and strong, grading a confident EX. Inner Sleeve: Original period inner sleeve included. Vinyl (EX): A beautiful copy retaining a superb deep gloss throughout. Side 1 is visually exceptionally clean and essentially flawless. Side 2 shows only a few very light, wispy marks visible when inspected closely under strong grading light, with nothing heavy or concerning. This is an unusually well-preserved copy that sits very close to Near Mint condition, though conservatively graded EX overall. ⸻ Details * UK 1st stereo pressing * 1969 release * Decca SKL.4804 * Blue unboxed Decca labels * Earliest -1W / -1W matrices * Original inner sleeve included * Stereo ⸻ Matrix / Stampers * Side A: ZAL-7297.P-1W * Side B: ZAL-7298.P-1W
