John Coltrane - Giant Steps (Japan) – 1976 Atlantic “Jazz...

A beautiful and fully complete 1976 Japanese pressing of John Coltrane's Giant Steps, issued on Atlantic under catalogue number P-7502A. This edition was part of the Japanese "Jazz Forever" series and comes in the original hard sleeve with the period OBI strip and fold-out insert—a presentation that collectors prize for its authenticity and completeness. Originally recorded in 1959 and released in 1960, Giant Steps stands as one of the defining albums of modern jazz and an essential Coltrane title. It was his first Atlantic album released under his own name and contains some of his most famous compositions, including the title track, "Cousin Mary," "Countdown," "Spiral," "Syeeda's Song Flute," "Naima," and "Mr. P.C." The sessions feature an extraordinary group of musicians: Tommy Flanagan, Paul Chambers, and Art Taylor, with Wynton Kelly and Jimmy Cobb appearing on "Naima." The title track in particular became famous for its demanding harmonic structure and remains one of Coltrane's signature compositions, a piece that continues to challenge musicians and listeners alike. This Japanese edition is especially attractive for collectors because it retains the complete original presentation: the original "Jazz Forever" OBI, the original fold-out Japanese insert, and the original hard picture sleeve, all together as issued. ⸻ Sleeve (NM): The original hard sleeve remains in exceptional Near Mint condition, remarkably clean and well preserved with virtually no meaningful wear. Insert / Inner: Original fold-out Japanese insert and OBI strip both present, completing the full original Japanese package. Vinyl (NM): The vinyl appears completely unplayed and retains a beautiful deep original gloss with virtually no evidence of handling. Conservatively graded Near Mint. ⸻ Details * Japan 1976 pressing * Atlantic P-7502A * "Jazz Forever" series * Original hard picture sleeve * Original OBI strip included * Original fold-out insert included * Stereo
