Joe Neil Beeler (1931 - 2006) "Scout For The Long Knives" Bronze Sculpture. Joe Beeler (1931–2006) was an American painter and sculptor known for his depictions of the American West. A founding member of the Cowboy Artists of America, Beeler worked in both painting and bronze sculpture and received numerous awards for sculpture at the organization’s annual exhibitions. In 2001, he was presented with the Cowboy Artists of America Special Lifetime Achievement Award. Beeler gained national recognition following a one-man exhibition at the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1960. His career subsequently included numerous exhibitions, commissions, awards, and honors for his contributions to Western art. In 1962, Beeler and his family settled in Sedona, Arizona, where he maintained his home and studio. His work frequently depicted cowboys, horses, Native American subjects, and scenes associated with ranching and the American West. In 2002, Beeler was selected by the family of former U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater to create a bronze statue honoring the Arizona statesman. The monument was installed at Barry Goldwater Memorial Park in Paradise Valley, Arizona. As a founding member of the Cowboy Artists of America and a prominent figure in 20th-century Western art, Beeler’s paintings and bronzes are represented in public, private, and institutional collections.
