Joan Vives Maristany (1901) - Preparando redes en la playa

Delicate oil on panel by Joan Vives Maristany following Joaquín Sorolla. An attractive, impressionist‑style seascape, depicting a coastal scene with several figures beside the sea and a vessel stranded on the beach. The scene’s luminosity and the combination of blues, turquoises, whites, ochres, and pink tones stand out, contributing great chromatic richness. And the vivacity of the painter’s luminous strokes. In the foreground there is a wide stretch of beach in light tones (the fishing nets), while in the background the sea and the horizon are discernible beneath a partially cloudy sky. The vessel located on the right side constitutes one of the main points of interest in the composition. The work is signed in the upper left, attributed to Joan Vives Maristany. Acquired at an auction gallery. It is presented in a magnificent antique Isabeline-style frame, richly ornamented, with vegetal and floral relief decoration and a gold-toned finish. The plaque is fixed with a wooden profile with a metallic finish and small floral motifs.. *Medidas aproximadas: la obra 17x26,5 cm y el cuadro con marco 31x41 cm (algo más ancho en las esquinas). **Adquirida en subasta, ha sido reenmarcada.
