Joan Miró (1893–1983) – The Acid Melody VII 1980 Artist: Joan Miró (1893–1983) Title of the artwork: The Acid Melody VII (Plate 7 from the 14-part series of the same name) Year: 1980 Technique: Color lithography Printer: La Polígrafa, S.A., Barcelona Dimensions: Sheet size approx. 33 x 25.5 cm / Image size approx. 20 x 15 cm The work is numbered and plate-signed or stone-signed. The Acid Melody VII is an outstanding original color lithograph by the world-famous Catalan master Joan Miró from his late work of 1980. The series arose in close conceptual connection with Surrealism and reflects Miró’s unmistakable, poetic synthesis of rhythm, spontaneity and form. The composition is characterized by the characteristic interplay of thick, bold black lines and vivid color accents. Biomorphic, dreamlike shapes seem to glide playfully across the paper – a visual equivalent to an "acid melody," where the sharpness of the lithographic technique perfectly contrasts with the lightness of the imagery.
