Rare and deliciously charming Victorian-style miniature book-shaped storage box / jewelry box (second half of the 19th century, ca. 1860–1880) shaped like a tiny book (extremely compact size 9.5 x 9 x 2 cm). Made in black lacquer with elegant iridescent floral motif inlays and hand-painted gold details. The contoured back bears the gold inscription "Friendship's Offering". Original side closure in worked metal, perfectly functioning. Type: Book-shaped storage box / jewelry case Dimensions: 9.5 x 9 x 2 cm Era: 19th Century (Victorian, ca. 1860–1880) Materials: Black lacquer / papier-mâché, gold finishes, worked metal (closure) Conditions: Very good considering its age. It retains its natural patina with mild surface craquelure and minimal age-related wear on the edges, which attest to its authenticity.
