The crowned figure playing the trumpet appears almost like a modern icon, surrounded by expressive marks, red and white fields, black outlines and Basquiat’s characteristic sense of rhythm and urgency. The work reflects the deep connection between Basquiat and jazz, transforming sound into image through gesture, improvisation and urban poetry. Its visual power connects naturally with Neo-Expressionism, street art, graffiti culture and the wider world of artists such as Warhol, Haring, Twombly, Dubuffet, Picasso, Pollock, Rauschenberg, Bacon and Jean-Michel’s own New York scene. This work has strong appeal for admirers of Basquiat, contemporary art, street art, jazz, music imagery, urban culture, vintage design, retro atmosphere and bold decorative prints. Its striking red, white, yellow and black palette makes it especially suitable for a Berlin loft, creative studio, contemporary apartment, music room, design office or eclectic collector’s space. It can sit beautifully beside wood furniture, black metal, Eames chairs, Gio Ponti references, mid-century design, antique objects, sculpture, vinyl records, rare ceramics, gold accents or limited edition design pieces, creating a strong dialogue between art, sound, fashion and interior design. With its crown motif, trumpet subject and unmistakable street energy, "Trumpet" is also an excellent gift for lovers of jazz, New York culture, graffiti art and iconic contemporary imagery. For those interested in Basquiat, Warhol, Haring, Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Kaws, Jeff Koons, Karl Lagasse, Lichtenstein, Hockney, Rothko, Picasso, Matisse, Miró, Dalí, Kandinsky and Richter, "Trumpet" offers a rare combination of music, rebellion, luxury and visual intensity. Its raw contemporary identity fits perfectly with today’s trend for curated interiors, where fine art prints can live naturally beside Rolex, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Lego, Star Wars, Pokémon, champagne, whisky and other icons of style, rarity and collecting. A bold and highly decorative Basquiat image, ideal for adding rhythm, colour, urban character and collector appeal to any modern interior.
