Jean-Daniel Lorieux (born 1937) – "Family of Monaco" Mixed media on paper | Signed bottom right | 64.5 × 64.5 cm ABOUT THE WORK A rare, signed mixed-media work by one of the most renowned French artists and photographers of his generation. The landscape-oriented sheet shows four portraits of the Monaco princely family, overlaid by an expressively placed red cross – a direct reference to Lorieux's Pop Art influences, which he developed in personal exchanges with Andy Warhol. The fusion of photography, painting, and collage is typical of Lorieux's painterly work. The subject is historically charged: Lorieux had a documented personal connection to the House of Monaco – he exhibited at Forum Grimaldi and photographed members of the family over the course of his career. This work is therefore far more than a portrait; it is a testament to a personal artistic relationship. ABOUT THE ARTIST Jean-Daniel Lorieux is among the most significant fashion photographers in France. He worked for Dior, Givenchy, Lanvin, Cartier and Chopard, and his work appeared in Vogue, Madame Figaro, and L'Officiel. In 1997 he was named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, and in 2003 he received the Légion d'honneur from Jacques Chirac. His paintings have been exhibited, among others, at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. Condition: very good. Professionally framed.
