JCJ van der Heijden (1928-2012) - Compositie met blauw kruis

Beautiful metal print / silkscreen / relief print by Jacques van der Heyden from 1968 titled Composition with Blue Cross. Jacques van der Heyden (1928-2012), known as JCJ Vanderheyden, studied from 1946 to 1956 at the Royal Academy of Art in Den Bosch and the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. He began his artistic career as an abstract painter, in the era when CoBrA art was popular. From the mid-1960s he experimented with film, computer graphics, electroacoustics, time experiments, and breathing exercises. During that period he painted barely at all. From the 1970s onward, Vanderheyden engaged in photography, graphic printing techniques, video, and television. In doing so, he reproduced his own work (and that of others) by turning it into installations that he then re-presented again through photography or video. A recurring theme in the artist’s oeuvre is perception and the reflection on perception. Through his travels to, among other places China, the North Pole, and the Himalayas, Vanderheyden was inspired to create works that draw attention to limits and division, emptiness and reflection. He also began to devote himself from the 1980s onward to constructing enclosed installations, in which he presented his works in reduced or fragmented form. By combining these images from the past and present, he seeks meaningful connections across space and time. We supply this artwork with a Certificate of Authenticity. The silkscreen is rolled in an acid-free protective sheet and sent by registered mail with insurance in a sturdy cardboard tube.
