Jack Cardiff (September 18, 1914, Great Yarmouth, England – April 22, 2009, Ely, England) — British cinematographer, director and photographer. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Black Narcissus (1947) and the Academy Honorary Award for lifetime achievement in 2001 — the first Director of Photography to receive this recognition in the history of the Academy. Known for his work on A Matter of Life and Death, The Red Shoes, The African Queen and War and Peace, among many others. Title of the work: "Angelic Marilyn" Date of capture: 1956, during the shoot of The Prince and the Showgirl, with Marilyn Monroe. Date of printing: 2010, by Chartfords Inc. Technique: Limited edition giclée, high-quality pigment print on paper. It is not a period gold-toned gelatin silver photograph replica, but an authorized reproduction of the original negative.
