J. Schuurmans (XX) - Sfeervol Olieverfschilderij – Hollands Polderlandschap

A beautiful and characterful Dutch polder landscape by the Dutch painter J. Schuurmans (active in the second half of the 20th century). The painting is executed in the nostalgic, impressionistic style of the Hague School. It shows a atmospheric scene with a reed-covered smallholder’s farm along a watercourse, distinctive bare trees and a dynamic, typically Dutch cloudscape. There is a beautiful, subtle light accent in the farmhouse window, which gives the work great depth and warmth. Specifications: • Artist: J. Schuurmans (signed bottom right) • Medium: Oil on canvas • Painting dimensions (art size): 39.5 x 29 cm (approximately 40 x 30 cm) • Dimensions including frame: 52.5 x 42 cm • Support: Original wooden cross-stretch frame with wedges in the corners • Frame: Robust wooden decorative frame with a gold-toned, patinated inner rim • Provenance: Professionally framed by the renowned Lijstenmakerij Riwian from Oisterwijk (original label still present on the rear) • Condition: Both the canvas and the frame are in a neat, solid vintage condition.
