J.-H. Reveillé-Parise - Traité de la vieillesse

Fascinating original edition of this work devoted to the study of aging viewed simultaneously as a biological phenomenon, a medical condition, a stage of existence and a philosophical question, witnessing the growing interest of nineteenth-century medicine in the transformations of the human body during aging - The author seeks to go beyond a mere description of diseases specific to the elderly to propose a broader reflection on the mechanisms of aging, the means of preserving physical and intellectual faculties, and the conditions that allow one to advance in age in as favorable a state as possible - The approach rests on the idea that old age constitutes a natural phase of life, but that its evolution can be influenced by habits, the environment, diet, physical activity, rest, moral conditions and medical care - J.-H. Reveillé-Parise - Treatise on Old Age, Hygienic, Medical and Philosophical - 1853 - J.-B. Baillière - VIII, 488 Pages.
