Italy, Republic 500 Lire argento (10 monete) (No reserve price)

We propose for sale a lot comprising 10 official 500 Lire coins of the Italian Republic, belonging to the famous “Caravelle” type. The group includes exactly 5 specimens dated 1958 and 5 specimens dated 1960. Each coin is made of silver with fineness 835/1000, weighs 11.00 grams, and has a diameter of 29 millimeters, bringing the total gross weight of the lot to 110 grams, equal to about 91.85 grams of pure silver. On the edge of each piece is the raised inscription "REPUBLICA ITALIANA" followed by the mint year. The obverse features a bust of a woman in Renaissance attire signed by Pietro Giampaoli, surrounded by the stems of Italian cities and regions. The reverse, by Guido Veroi, depicts the three caravels of Christopher Columbus sailing to the right, flanked by the inscription "REPUBBLICA ITALIANA" and the nominal value "L. 500" at the bottom. All coins are presented in good to very good condition (estimate between BB and SPL), with well-defined details on the reliefs of the sails and faces, accompanied by a pleasant and uniform natural patina of age.
