Fascinating and meticulous historical view that documents the seventeenth-century layout of the Villa d'Este gardens. Compared to Dupérac's monumental edition, the plate engraved by Giacomo Lauro stands out for the distinctive arrangement of the text: it indeed features descriptive titles along the upper and lateral margins, paired with an accurate numbered legend (visible on the right) that guides the observer through the various fountains, labyrinths, and architectural beauties of the palace. The sheet retains a good structural consistency. One notices the typical, uniform, and light patina of time (even yellowing) that gives the work its characteristic antique flavor and attests to its authenticity.
