Helmet Model 33, Italian Air Force, NEW: • The code "MM 114": This is the maker’s mark stamped cold onto the metal on the inner rear part of the shell. It identifies the manufacturer Moneta of Milan (indicated by the initials MM) and the metal alloy batch (the number 114). The shell therefore dates to the World War II period, since Moneta produced ballistic steel batches mainly in those years. • The size 58: Indicates the physical size of the shell, confirmed by stamps on the rim of the retaining band. • The green leather chinstrap: The presence of the chinstrap in gray‑green leather, together with internally "all‑new" components, shows that the helmet underwent a total postwar refit in the 1950s or 1960s. During the Cold War, old combat shells in excellent condition were stripped of paint, repainted olive green, and fitted with new leather interiors and chinstraps to be redistributed to units (in this case to the Military Air Vigilance). The immaculate condition and the shell dating from World War II (even though refitted for the postwar Air Force) make this piece a unique item of the highest collectible interest.
