With frame: 29x28 cm Without frame: 12x9 cm Art miniature painted on porcelain, depicting a classic Rococo-inspired gallant scene, reminiscent of the famous eighteenth-century works by French masters such as Jean-Honoré Fragonard or François Boucher. Characteristics of the Work: • Subject: The scene shows a group of nobles dressed in eighteenth-century costumes (colonial/Victorian style in a collectible taste) gathered outdoors. In the center, a lady in a fuchsia dress plays a string instrument (a lute or Baroque guitar), flanked by other figures sipping tea or coffee, and another musician in the background. • Support: It is a finely glazed or suitably printed and hand-finished porcelain plaque, typical of historic European manufactories. • Framing: The plaque is enclosed by an elegant gold profile, mounted in a deep blue velvet mat and protected by a sumptuous carved and gilt wooden frame with foliage and Baroque scroll motifs. This type of decorative wall miniatures was very common from the late nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century, often produced by famous art studios such as Sungott Art Studios of New York or on fine porcelains (such as Limoges, Bavarian, or Bohemian-made), intended to embellish elegant drawing rooms or private studies.
