Tutte le aste / Metalli / Islamic mortar with pestle, Persian tradition, 11th century

Descriptio Bronze with a dark patina. Measures 13 x 13 cm. Cylindrical mortar with its original pestle, conceived as a robust and functional set. Its exterior surface is decorated with relief bossettes in the shape of drops, arranged regularly around the body. The pestle, of balanced proportions, has a simple finial that reinforces its utilitarian character. The bronze is compact, with a restrained modeling and a deep patina that adds visual richness to the piece. The typology, geometric decoration, and technique consistently reflect the 11th-century Persian Islamic tradition, where such objects played an essential role in domestic, pharmaceutical, and culinary settings, giving the piece considerable historical and cultural value. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipment: no import duties apply within the EU. Export permit from the country of origin may be required.
