Islamic Bronze Rum-Seljuk Oil Lamp with Spanish Import License - 16.5 cm

Medieval oil lamp from the Middle East, with a faceted octagonal base and a teardrop-shaped body, richly decorated with engraved ornaments, Arabic inscriptions, and zoomorphic motifs. Of particular note are the panther heads in relief, as well as the depictions of birds serving as handles. It features a dark patina, traces of rust, and minor casting defects. The oval handle has a later break, but the piece is otherwise in very good overall condition. PROVENANCE: Private collection in Munich (Zahren Collection), acquired by the previous owner on the German art market between the 1970s and 1990s, and later inherited.
