"SOCIÉTÉ DES AMIS DE LA CONSTITUTION DE GRENOBLE du 3 octobre 1791" Nice vignette from the Society - Copy of the Adresse de la Société des Amis de la Constitution à l'Assemblée Nationale to be inserted in the Society's journal. - Beautiful letter on the Mint, Assignats and Speculation: "Agiotage is at its height, the numéraire has disappeared, the Assignats of 5 # are being monopolized, because they are not in sufficient quantity and there is too much distance between them and those of 50 #... this usury is unbearable. France is in the greatest danger.... the public good requires that the large Assignats be abolished, that the medium-sized ones be very rare and that the small ones be in large quantities, so that it will be as easy to exchange them as it was to exchange Louis for Écus...etc...". 3 pages in-4°.
