Important historical mineralogical collection from the...

This important mineralogical selection brings together 25 specimens for a total weight of 7.1 kg, or about 7,100 grams. It is a rich, heavy, and highly diverse batch, predominantly consisting of Italian minerals, with some classic foreign occurrences from Spain, Slovakia, and Russia. The centerpiece of the collection is represented by the diamond-cut quartz crystals from Ponte della Venturina, in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna: very brilliant, crystal-clear, and scenographic specimens, valued for their luminous appearance and the natural elegance of their crystallization. Alongside these are great Italian classics such as the datolite from Sasso di Castro, the pyrite from San Clemente, the beta-quartz from Castelluccio di Moscheda, the Tuscan sulfides, the iron minerals of the Island of Elba, the gypsum from Gabicce Mare, Sicilian gypsum, and important mineralogical associations such as sulfur and celestine from the Agrigento area. The lot includes: • Diamond-cut quartz crystals – Ponte della Venturina, Bologna, Emilia-Romagna Headlining the lot: clear, brilliant, and highly aesthetic quartz crystals, known to collectors for their “diamond-like” appearance. A scenographic, luminous sample with a strong visual impact, ideal as the opening piece of the selection. • Datolite – Sasso di Castro, Firenzuola, Tuscany Classic sample from one of Italy’s most famous localities for datolite. A mineral highly appreciated for its vitreous luster, well-defined facets, and its link to the ophiolitic context of the Tuscan-Emilian Alps. • Byssolite (amphibole variety) – Miage Glacier, Aosta Valley Very interesting alpine specimen, with fibrous amphibole labeled as byssolite. The provenance from the Miage Glacier near Mont Blanc gives the piece strong geographic and collecting value. • Pyrite – San Clemente, Bologna, Emilia-Romagna Classic Emilia-Romagna specimen, with bright metallic crystals that are easily recognizable. San Clemente pyrite is highly regarded for its provenance, luster, and territorial value. • Calcite – Riolo Terme, Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna Calcite from one of Romagna’s most representative mineralogy areas. An interesting specimen for its luster, provenance, and link to sedimentary and gypsum–sulfide contexts in the region. • Coral Calcite – Sardinia A Sardinian specimen with coral-like morphology, i.e., branched and concretionary. The natural, almost organic form makes the specimen very aesthetic, curious, and decorative. • Septarian Gypsum – Secchiano, Emilia-Romagna A specimen in which gypsum forms in relation to a septarian structure. Interesting for morphology, provenance, and educational value. • Calcite – Sardinia A Sardinian calcite specimen, a classic mineral, always important for the variety of crystal forms and geological contexts in which it can form. • Beta-Quartz – Castelluccio di Moscheda, Modena, Emilia-Romagna Appenninic beta-quartz from a locality highly valued by Italian collectors. The crystal habit and the ophiolitic provenance make it a representative sample of Modenese mineralogy. • Transparent gypsum slice – Gabicce Mare, Marche Very interesting gypsum specimen for transparency and slice-cut. The Gabicce Mare provenance adds territorial and collecting value. • Hematite – Valle Giove, Elba Island, Tuscany Classic ferriferous Elban sample from one of the island’s most famous localities. Valle Giove hematite is appreciated for its metallic luster, historical value, and strong link to the island’s ancient iron mines. • Limonite – Calamita Mine, Elba Island, Tuscany Rare and very interesting limonite crystal from the Calamita Mine area. A distinctive specimen tied to iron mineral alteration processes and Elba’s mining context. • Crystallized sulfur – Pereta Mine, Grosseto, Tuscany A rare and fascinating crystallized sulfur specimen from the historic Pereta mining area. The yellow color and Tuscan provenance make the piece very interesting for sulfur collectors. • Talc – Val di Maletto, Chianti (Florentine), Tuscany Talc specimen from a Tuscan locality, interesting for appearance, texture, and lithological value. Adds a different species to the lot compared with more classic quartz, carbonates, and sulfides. • Quartz with limonite pseudomorph after pyrite – Bruzolo, Turin, Piedmont Very interesting morphologically. Limonite preserves the original pyrite shape, showing natural pseudomorphism, while quartz completes the association, making the piece even richer and more educational. • Fluorite – Berbes, Asturias, Spain Classic Spanish fluorite from Berbes, a well-known locality in mineral collecting. Fluorite from this area is appreciated for color, luster, and aesthetic quality. • Gypsum – Sicily Sicilian gypsum specimen representative of the island’s famous evaporitic contexts. A simple yet highly meaningful example of provenance. • Sulfur and Celestine – Agrigento, Sicily A notably interesting association between sulfur and celestine from one of the most important historical areas for Italian sulfide minerals. The contrast between the yellow sulfur and the celestine makes the piece particularly fascinating. • Quartz – Cellino Quartz sample from Cellino, with collecting value tied to locality and crystallization. A specimen useful to complete the quartz variety in the lot. • Pyrite and Hematite – Elba Island, Tuscany Classic and highly appreciated Elban association, with pyrite and hematite in a ferriferous historic context. A specimen of strong territorial value, representative of Elba’s great mining tradition. • Sulfur – Le Cetine di Cotorniano, Siena, Tuscany Native sulfur from the historic Tuscan locality of Le Cetine, tied to antimony-bearing mineralizations. A classic in Italian mineralogy. • Pyrite pseudomorph in limonite – Cavo, Elba Island, Tuscany Very interesting specimen where limonite has substituted pyrite while preserving its original appearance. A natural pseudomorph with strong educational and collecting value, made even more fascinating by its Elban origin. • Quartz hopper-hatch – Porretta Terme, Emilia-Romagna Quartz with hopper-hatch growth, characterized by a distinctive and highly sought crystallization. An Appennine specimen interesting for both morphology and provenance. • Galena – Slovakia Foreign specimen of galena, lead sulfide with the typical metallic luster and substantial weight. A classic and representative presence in the lot. • Rhodochrosite – Russia Foreign specimen of rhodochrosite, manganese carbonate known for pink and rose-red hues. A mineral highly valued for color, systematic value, and aesthetic appeal. This selection brings together 25 specimens for a total of 7.1 kg, building a lot that is rich, important, and very diverse. From Ponte della Venturina’s diamond-cut quartz crystals to Sasso di Castro’s datolite, from Elba’s iron minerals to Tuscan and Sicilian sulfides, up to the Spanish fluorite and the foreign presences from Slovakia and Russia, each piece contributes to creating a broad and strongly characterized collection. The value of the lot lies in the combination of aesthetics, weight, historical localities, and mineral variety. It is a selection designed for those seeking a major ensemble, with recognizable Italian specimens, classic minerals, and more unusual pieces such as pseudomorphs, crystallized sulfides, hopper-quartz, and diamond-like crystals. Kire Minerals is proud to present this important mineralogical selection, personally chosen by Erik Lombini with the usual passion and expertise. Each specimen has been evaluated for aesthetic, scientific, or collecting interest, with the aim of offering an authentic, diverse, and truly engaging lot. Kire Minerals – your collection, with passion.
