De jure belli ac pacis (On the Law of War and Peace) is the major work of the Dutch jurist and philosopher Hugo Grotius. This Lausanne edition is particularly expanded: in addition to Grotius’s text, it includes the author’s annotations, the notes of Johannes Fredericus Gronovius, the observations of Jean Barbeyrac, and the substantial commentaries of Heinrich von Cocceji and his son Samuel. It also contains the famous Grotius text on freedom of the seas (De mari libero), as well as a treatise on equity, indulgence, and facility.
