Huge 140 LB Antique Dye Maker's First Stage Mortar & Pestle, English, Georgian

This is a large antique dye maker's first stage Mortar & Pestle. An English, heavy cast iron industrial grinding tool, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800. Fascinating and of impressive proportion, this pairing would have been used to grind the initial source material, before refinement in smaller, bench-based mortars. This is a strikingly large and heavy antique mortar & pestle, with a delightfully weathered, authentic appearance and sheer heft. Sure to be a distinctive fireplace ornament or set outdoors.
