Dimensions: 23 cm x 49 cm Condition and state of the print: The print is in good condition. In particular, the colors are still beautifully bright and vivid. The paper still feels very sturdy. The artist: Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) was one of the most famous Japanese ukiyo-e artists. He is known for his innovative compositions, vibrant color use, and impressive landscapes. Hokusai produced thousands of works during his long career and had a significant influence on both Japanese and European art. His best-known work is The Great Wave off Kanagawa, part of the famous series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. His prints are today among the most recognizable and valued works of Japanese printmaking. The print: Horseman in Snow is a woodblock print by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, made around 1833–1834 and part of the series A True Mirror of Chinese and Japanese Poems. In the print we see a horseman with a companion traveling through a vast, snow-covered landscape. The white snow and bare trees create a calm, cold, and somewhat melancholic atmosphere. Hokusai thereby shows not only a landscape but also attempts to express a feeling or story. The series is inspired by classical Chinese and Japanese poems and tales. The rider can be seen as a traveler or someone who is outside society, making themes of loneliness, distance, and isolation important. Through the simple colors, the ample snow, and the small human figures, the print takes on an almost silent and timeless appearance. Shipping: The woodblock print is carefully and securely packaged to protect it during transport. The print is shipped by registered mail and provided with a Track & Trace code, so the shipment can be tracked throughout its journey.
