HONG KONG (SAR). Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation. 500 Dollars, 31.3.1974. P-Unlisted. Artist's Rendition. PMG Encapsulated. The second of three intriguing pairs of hand painted, unadopted artists' renditions for the 1973 HSBC $500. Obverse in two shades of brown, Bank arms at left, Bank titles upper left and upper centre, lion watermark at right. The reverse is in yellow-brown, featuring the profile of one of the HSBC lions looking out over Victoria Harbour. The main differences between this pair and the previous are the different positions and size of the Bank titles, the underprint of 'Wu Bai' (Five Hundred) in the central panel and the complete elimination of the blue colours. This design and colour scheme are more akin to the final design than the previous pair, and it is therefore logical to assume it was conceived late in the pre-production stage. Indeed, the date on the obverse is '31 March 1974 ', confirming this point. A spellbinding item that will capture the interest of advanced notaphilist. Estimate: $10,000 - $15,000. 1974年香港上海匯豐銀行伍佰圓。手繪圖稿。 1973年滙豐銀行伍佰圓手繪未採納設計稿三組中之第二組。正面以雙層棕調呈現：左置銀行徽章，左上與中上分列銀行名稱，右側設獅形水印區域。背面通體黃褐，描繪滙豐銅獅側影，遠眺維多利亞港景。此對設計與前稿主要差異在於：銀行名稱之位置與尺寸調整、中央面板增印"伍佰"底紋，且全面捨棄藍色調。其構圖與配色較前稿更近最終定版，故可推斷此乃設計階段後期之構思。觀其正面日期標為"1974年3月31日"，正印證此點。此件作品意蘊深邃，必引資深紙鈔藏家矚目。
