The design showcases the precipitous, jagged rock pillars of Shimotani in the foreground, where small travelers make their precarious ascent along a narrow ridge. In the background rises the imposing, snow-covered volcanic silhouette of Mount Daisen (often revered as the "Fuji of Hōki"), beautifully offset against a vibrant red-to-light bokashi horizon and a deep Prussian blue sky. Condition Report: - Overall Condition: Very Good - Color & Impression: Strong, vibrant colors and sharp impression. Excellent bokashi (color gradation) throughout the sky, mountain ridges, and valleys. Fine detail preserved in the line work, pines, and steps. - Mounting: NOT backed / unmounted. The print retains its original supple washi texture with strong pigment bleed-through (karazuri/bleed) clearly visible on verso, confirming an authentic period impression. Edges are fixated to back paper. - Margins: Slightly trimmed as is typical for album-mounted sheets of this period, yet retaining publisher and date/censor seals in the left margin.
