Hermès - LA RONDE DES JOCKEYS. Ascot - Foulard

Very rare and energetic Hermès Paris carré titled "Ascot 1831" and masterfully illustrated by the renowned Swiss artist Jean-Louis Clerc (1908–1975). Originally designed in 1968, this piece is a splendid vintage re-edition from the late 1970s / 1980s offered in a magnificent and vivid color variant with an emerald green border. The motif is one of the most extraordinary representations of the house's equestrian theme: Clerc, renowned for his ability to portray pure movement, creates a dazzling radiating bouquet of racehorses and jockeys in green-and-blue two-tone jackets captured in full action. At the center, a imposing stylized horseshoe encloses the homage to the historic year 1831, a pivotal moment for Ascot's royal racecourse. The four inner corners are adorned with refined golden interweavings of tack and stable bits. • Institutional mark: The official Hermès - Paris mark is present, integrated into the central medallion, an authentic signature protected by copyright. • Exquisite manufacture: Made in the traditional heavy diagonally woven silk twill with excellent visual color penetration on the back, evidence of the hand-screened checked pattern from Lyon. • Border: Fully hand-rolled edge along the perimeter, taut and intact. An archival piece of great dynamism and visual impact, carrying the fascinating patina of time, perfect to enrich the collections of the most discerning vintage Hermès enthusiasts and collectors of the equestrian theme. Good vintage condition. Substantial fabric, vivid and bright colors, hand-rolled border (roulotage) well preserved. Note the presence of some physiological stains/aloes on the silk due to time and age of the piece, which do not affect the exceptional aesthetic rendering and the collectible value of the piece (see close-up photo).
