Rare and fascinating antique pocket mechanical pedometer (step-counter), produced in France in the early 20th century (circa 1900–1920) and traceable to the renowned Henri Châtelain manufacture. This walking scientific instrument combines the elegance of a classic pocket watch with the precision of mechanical engineering of the era. Its operation is based on an ingenious internal pendulum system (oscillating mass) that records the jolting movement of every single step, transmitting it to the hands on the dial.
