HELLENISTIC GOLD RING WITH PHILOSOPHER

Ca. 200 - 100 BC. A gold ring with a rounded hoop supporting an oval bezel engraved with the bust of philosopher in profile. The man is depicted with a full beard, long wavy hair bound with a fillet and drapery over his shoulder. Clusters of three applied granules decorate the junctions between the hoop and bezel.
