Collection of Esther Shaver, Beaufort, SC Description: Helen Hatch Inglesby (GA, 1914-1999), Study of Women Working, Graphite on Paper, 1960, signed and dated lower left, depicting a group of laborers working in a lumber yard, framed with linen mat. Frame size: 29 in. x 34 3/4 in. Savannah native Helen Hatch Inglesby had a long and prolific career as an artist working in a wide variety of media, though she was perhaps best known for her silhouettes. Inglesby studied at the College of William and Mary and at the Telfair Academy. She was devoted to the Savannah art world, exhibiting regularly with the Savannah Art Association and the Society of Georgia Artists, as well as teaching art at various schools in the city. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Morris Museum of Art, the Telfair Museum and in private collections.Measurements: Height: by sight 17 1/2 in. x Width: 23 in. Condition: Overall good condition, foxing throughout and minor losses to paper.
