Headdress - Burkina Faso

An exceptional and rare helmet mask of the Bobo Fing ethnic group (Mali/Burkina Faso/Ivory Coast). A round, hollow-cast bronze/copper model, decorated in an anthropozoomorphic style with double horns and a Chameleon on top. These helm masks were worn exclusively by members of the smith caste during mourning ceremonies, to accompany the deceased to his final resting place, the volta.
