Very rare reformational pamphlet by the Imperial knight and Luther follower Hartmut von Cronberg, printed in Wittenberg in the year 1523. In this open letter Cronberg directly addresses the then Pope Adrian VI. He openly criticizes the abuses within the Church and shows, from his point of view, a path by which heresies can be overcome through a return to the true Christian faith. At the same time, he discusses the acute threat posed by the Ottoman Empire and urges the Christian powers to stand together in the face of the "Turkish tyranny". The pages are very well and cleanly preserved. Some with slight browning. Bound in a later binding, which bears a handwritten title on the front. The spine is lightly worn.
