Tutte le aste / Etnografia / HALLOWEEN - Natural Green Quartz Translucent Green Quartz...

atural Bahia Green Quartz – A landscape enclosed within a crystal. Obelisk carved from natural quartz from Bahia, Brazil, characterized by a delicate green tint, a partially transparent structure, and a complex set of internal inclusions and fractures that become visible through the polished surfaces. The specimen presents a slender form, with a wide and stable base that progressively narrows toward a pointed termination, faceted. The polishing allows light to pass through the mineral, highlighting the different zones of transparency and creating depth and visual overlays. The color is not uniform. In the upper part there are sage green and grayish-green hues, while in the lower zone lighter, almost colorless tones prevail, accompanied by white-milk veils. In some points the crystal takes on slightly yellowish reflections, particularly evident when illuminated. One of the most interesting aspects of the specimen is its internal structure. Through the polished faces one can distinguish numerous discontinuities, thin scarred fractures, reflective planes, and small dark inclusions. Some structures appear as ultra-thin filaments, others form more complex intertwinings, visible especially in the central and upper portion. These features tell part of the geological history of the material. Quartz often forms from the circulation of silica-rich fluids within fractures and cavities of rocks. During crystal growth, variations in chemical and physical conditions can favor the incorporation of other minerals, the formation of fluid inclusions, and the development of internal discontinuities. The Bahia region of Brazil is known for numerous quartz deposits, with crystals that can exhibit varying degrees of transparency, coloration, and mineral associations. The green observable in some quartz could depend on the presence of mineral inclusions, including iron-rich minerals, or on particular characteristics of the material. The exact cause of the coloration of this specimen cannot be determined from the photographs alone.
