HAL SUNDAY (1930) - Hands in Her Hair

HAL SUNDAY (1930) - Chin in Hands - Acrylic painting · Hand-signed · 2026 Here, a woman with brown hair holds her head with both hands, fingers dug into her locks. Her gaze turns to the side, eyes clear and wide open, lips slightly parted. Behind her, a gray-blue wall cut by a white light and a window onto the city amplifies the feeling of confinement, while the blue dress anchors the figure in the foreground. We think of Géricault's portraits painted around 1820, where the model caught in a crisis of the mind becomes the entire subject of the painting, and of Delacroix’s theatricality. A canvas of unease and tension, where the gesture speaks what the face does not dare to say. Mixed technique: original acrylic painting, varnished. Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang. Format: 40 × 60 cm. Signed HAL SUNDAY · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided. HAL SUNDAY is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figuration. Under the name HAL SUNDAY, the Atelier revives the hushed America of the 1930s-40s and the legacy of Edward Hopper: solitary figures, natural light sculpting the moment, inhabited silences and restrained melancholy, in the lineage of American scene painting realism. Each work is a unique piece. Instagram @atelierjoconde.
