This Grammy Nominees album included tracks from a range of 44th Annual Grammy Nominees in 2002 as can be seen printed on the face of the award. Among others the nominated artists with tracks on the album included Bob Dylan, Nelly Furtado, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Outkast, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Train, U2, and more. The reason the American flag figures so prominently in the award's design was to show support in the aftermath of 9/11. The Grammys also moved the show from Los Angeles to New York City in 2003 for the first time in a number of years to support the city's economic recovery.
