Als Görres '1819 mit seiner Schrift 'Teutschland und die Revolution' die freiheitliche Bewegung gegen die Metternichsche Politik unterstützte, konnte er sich dem Verhaftungsbefehl nur durch Flucht entziehen. Goedeke VI, 205, 28. - First German edition. - Deluxe edition with colored copperplate engravings of the first partial translation of the Persian national epic, comprising over 50,000 verses, which Ferdowsi composed between 982 and 1014 and which is considered the foundational text of the Persian written language. When Görres supported the liberal movement against Metternich's policies in 1819 with his pamphlet 'Germany and the Revolution', he could only escape the arrest warrant by fleeing. During his Swiss exile, he then published the 'Book of Heroes' (World Literature, page 614). - Wide-margined, untrimmed print. - Map with a repaired tear at the edge.
