Goliad, Texas. $20 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1802-1. First NB. Charter #4565. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25. Offered here is an evenly circulated T1 $20 issued by the First National Bank of Goliad (Charter# 4565) where the applied comments are best overlooked. Now even though the reasoning behind the comments that reference "Overprint Bleed Through" and "Minor Corner Damage" can be readily perceived, it takes little away from the fact that this is a desirable note even though 27 non-institutional pieces are presently recorded here by the National Bank Note Census. Now Goliad is particularly significant location in Texas history owing to the infamous Goliad Massacre and the so-called "Goliad Flag" which was flown over the Presidio La Bahía which was the site of the Battle of Goliad which preceded the massacre granting this note a tangible connection to a community whose own history was shaped by the Texas Revolution. PCGS Banknote comments "Overprint Bleed Through, Minor Corner Damage." Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV.
