Hardly any other gemstone is as closely associated with love as the ruby. It was its color that prompted Robert Herrick to compare it to the rosy mouth of his beloved Juliet. Oscar Wilde also compared the red of the ruby in his fairy tale The Nightingale and the Rose to the color of the heart itself, and William Blake spoke of the "rubies and pearls" of the loving gaze. At the end of the 19th century, the gemstone then became a popular setting for engagement rings - for the reasons just mentioned. Here, a wonderful ruby is set in a modernist cluster of brilliant-cut diamonds and marquise diamonds. The diamonds nestle elegantly around the ruby. The intensely colored gemstone comes from Burma, the legendary location where the most precious rubies are found, and shows no signs of heating: it is a natural product. The cut alone enhances its color effect; if you turn it in the light, it looks as if red fires are glowing inside it. Natural inclusions can be seen under a magnifying glass. The high-quality ring is a typical design from around 1970, which combines the classic glamor of the mid-century with the futuristic elegance of the space age. It comes with an independent gemmological certificate.
