A turning point in his career occurred in the 1980s with the Assempaforismo. Towards the end of the 1980s, he created the IMAGES movement together with other Abruzzo artists. In 2013 he founded the Giuseppe Fortunato Foundation, dedicated to the archiving and sharing of his artistic legacy. Fortunato's artistic career has been marked by his exploration of deep and non-superficial emotions. He achieved early success in Italy and extended his reach in the United Kingdom and across Europe and in the USA. As a painter, sculptor and designer, Giuseppe Fortunato's work evolved toward a surreal aesthetic, ultimately arriving at his characteristic “Colate” style: vivid and fluid glazes applied to large flat surfaces.
