Giorgio Vitale (XX-XXI) - Dama in rosa con pappagalli

An elegant and refined composition, with a Victorian taste: a young woman in a sumptuous confetti-pink dress, embellished with ruffles and lace, is depicted seated at a table with a porcelain tea service decorated with flowers. At her sides, two parrots with colorful plumage — a pink cockatoo and a macaw in blue, green, and gold tones — serve as elegant backs, giving the scene an exotic and decorative touch. The direct and slightly dreamy gaze, the hairstyle gathered with a flower among the hair, and the delicate jewelry add a further touch of feminine grace to the composition, while the cut rose resting on the table, beside the cup and saucer, delicately recalls the themes of beauty that is ephemeral, dear to still life. The painting technique, rich in descriptive details, stands out for the meticulous rendering of the birds’ plumage and of the decorated porcelain, in balance with a softer and more blended brushwork in the complexion and in the gilded background.
