DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK We offer at auction a magnificent and vibrant glazed ceramic by Giorgio Moiso, an eclectic Italian master known for his relentless gesturality. This wall sculpture sits chronologically between the 1990s and the early 2000s, a golden period for the artist's plastic research, marked by his fruitful and historic collaborations with the prestigious Ligurian kilns of Albisola, such as "San Giorgio" and "Manifattura Giuseppe Mazzotti 1903". The work stands out for an impetuous and luminous use of vitreous matter, a perfect expression of the artist's spatial investigation. The bright colors blend on the surface, creating zones of magmatic density and sudden chromatic intensifications. BIOGRAPHICAL AND CRITICAL NOTES ABOUT THE ARTIST Giorgio Moiso (Cairo Montenotte, 1942 – Savona, 2019) was a renowned Italian painter, ceramist, and musician. Trained at the Art High School "Arturo Martini" in Savona, he united the visual arts with jazz throughout his life, often transforming painting into pure Action Painting performances where gesture, sound, and color merged into an unstoppable energy. A fundamental and internationally acclaimed chapter of his artistic path is represented by ceramics, a discipline intensely explored thanks to close collaboration with the prestigious kilns of Albisola, including the "Manifattura Giuseppe Mazzotti 1903" and "Ceramiche San Giorgio." In his ceramic works, Moiso renders the vigor of abstract expressionism into the physicality of clay: critics highlight the "magmatic matter" and bold chromatic spaces, used skillfully to give the compositions natural dynamism that invades the surrounding space. His plastic research has been celebrated in major museum contexts and retrospectives. Among the most significant exhibitions dedicated specifically to his ceramics is remembered the anthological show "Giorgio Moiso: Color, Matter, Gesture," warmly received at the Museo della Ceramica Fornace di Castellamonte (within the historic Ceramics Show).
