He may be called the apologist par excellence of homeopathy, impartial, just, eloquent more than anyone else. Dr. Gerard Joseph Marie Bigel (1764-1832) born in France, studied at the École de Médecine of Strasbourg, learned about and adopted the new curative method during a trip in Germany in the company of Grand Duke Constantine of Russia. Subsequently he practiced homeopathy in Saint Petersburg and in Warsaw where in 1827
