The work depicts a fishing sailboat at anchor, accompanied by a small boat in the foreground, in a peaceful maritime atmosphere. The composition shows remarkable mastery of painterly material. Lapchine here deploys a vigorous and generous brushstroke, characterized by bold impastos and a relief work particularly evident in the sails, the hull of the boat and the reflections on the water surface.
