The whole of the Galeries historiques de Versailles was published by subscription in 460 deliveries (462 according to Vicaire), the first of which was announced on 1 May 1837. Three editions were then available: a luxury edition, large folio format with engravings on China, with text adorned with vignettes, drop-caps and wood-engraved ornaments; a small folio format edition, with the same engravings and texts, but without the ornaments; an in-4 format edition containing a selection of engravings from the other editions.
