A rare and fascinating miscellany composed of two famous anonymous works by Frederick II the Great, King of Prussia, published under the well-known pseudonym of "Philosophe de Sans-Souci". Two writings of great historical and literary significance, interweaving philosophical reflection and epic-military poetry. 1) [Friedrich II. König von Preußen], Oeuvres du philosophe de Sans-Souci, A Berlin, chez Jean Neaulme, libraire, 1760. PP.: IV, 253, (III). COMPLETE. It collects the philosopher–poet’s production, representing one of the most emblematic testimonies of the Enlightenment thought of the Prussian sovereign. 2) [Friedrich II. König von Preußen], L'Art de la guerre. Poeme, A Berlin, [probable typographie di Jean Neaulme], 1760. PP.: (IV), 63, (I). COMPLETE. A famous didactic poem in verse dedicated to the art of warfare and strategy. Both works present themselves with sheets in overall very good condition, with the usual slight signs of time. Volume bound in a rigid contemporary card hardcover covered with period marbled paper ("eye of the cat" pattern), with a green paper spine label bearing an old manuscript title. Binding solid in very good overall condition, with slight and physiological wear to the headbands and corners.
